For Employers

Recruit legal talent with confidence.

Building legal capability starts with recruiting people into roles that give them a clear route to develop.

Brightlink can help you understand the legal education and development pathways that may support your recruitment plans, from apprenticeships and CILEX routes to longer term professional progression.

Build Your Talent Pipeline

Recruit for the role you need today and the capability you need tomorrow.

Recruitment and development are connected. How a role is structured now can shape how well someone grows into it.

  • Widen the pool

Consider entry routes that can open opportunities to people at different career stages.

  • Build role-relevant capability

Connect recruitment decisions with structured legal learning and professional development.

  • Create visible progression

Give people a clearer understanding of how their role can develop over time.

  • Strengthen retention

A credible development pathway can help employees see a future within the organisation.

Start with Your Needs

What legal capability are you trying to build?

Brightlink can help you think through current capability gaps, the level of the role, expected responsibilities, existing employee experience, future progression and the education or qualification pathways that may be appropriate.

Entry-level legal talent

New entrants and people beginning their legal careers, including apprenticeships, with structured development from the start.

This can work well where you want to recruit for potential and develop legal knowledge, confidence and workplace capability over time.

Developing legal professionals

People with some legal experience, progressing into more advanced work through CILEX routes and employer-supported development.

This may suit roles where you need someone who can contribute from the outset while developing towards greater case, client or workload responsibility.

Graduate and advanced pathways

Law graduates and other experienced candidates who may be suited to higher-level professional development.

This can support recruitment into roles where existing academic or legal experience can provide a stronger starting point for specialist or higher-level development.

How Brightlink Can Help

A structured approach to recruitment and development.

  1. Understand your needs

We start with the role, the capability you need and how that requirement may develop over time.

  2. Explore suitable pathways

We help you understand the legal education and development routes that may fit the role and the individual.

  3. Shape the opportunity

Brightlink can help you think through how the learning pathway, progression opportunity and workplace role fit together.

  4. Support development

Once someone is in role and studying with Brightlink, we can provide structured learning, tutor support and guidance relevant to their programme.

Recruit and Develop

Legal apprenticeships can create a different route into your organisation.

Apprenticeships combine employment with structured learning. The individual needs to be employed in a suitable legal or legally aligned role, and Welsh Legal Services Apprenticeships are available at Level 3 and Level 5, subject to eligibility. This route can help you develop people while they continue to work, and Brightlink can help you understand the programme requirements involved.

Not every role will qualify, and funding is not guaranteed for every learner. Brightlink does not guarantee funding and does not supply the apprentice; recruitment and eligibility remain assessed individually.

Your questions, answered.

What legal education routes could support a new recruit?

Depending on the person and the role, this could include the CILEX Professional Qualification, a Welsh Legal Services Apprenticeship, or the CILEX Graduate Qualification for eligible law graduates. Talk to us and we’ll help you understand which route may fit.

Can an apprenticeship be used for someone we are recruiting?

It may be possible, subject to eligibility. The individual needs to be employed in a legal or legally aligned role that meets the relevant requirements. Talk to us before finalising the role if you are considering this route.

What type of employment is required for a legal apprenticeship?

Broadly, the individual needs to work at least 16 hours per week in a legal or legally aligned role, earn at least the applicable National Minimum Wage, and spend at least 51% of their working time in Wales. Existing qualifications can also affect eligibility.

Can Brightlink help us understand which route fits a role?

Yes. Tell us about the role and what you are trying to achieve, and we’ll help you understand the options that may be relevant.

What support does Brightlink provide once someone starts studying?

Structured learning, specialist tutor support and guidance relevant to their programme, so they have real support around their studies, not just course materials.

Does Brightlink recruit candidates for us?

Brightlink’s role is focused on legal education, development pathways and programme support. Recruitment and selection remain the employer’s responsibility unless a separate service has been explicitly agreed.
