Brightlink Law School

Accessibility Statement

1. Our Commitment to Accessibility

1.1 Brightlink Law School believes that legal education should be as accessible as we can reasonably make it.

1.2 Our website is used by people at different stages of their careers, with different experiences, needs and ways of accessing information.

1.3 We want people to be able to find and understand information about routes into law, legal qualifications, courses, apprenticeships, employer training and Brightlink without unnecessary barriers.

1.4 Brightlink Law School is a public-facing brand operated by Brightlink Learning Ltd.

2. Our Approach

2.1 We design and develop the Brightlink Law School website with accessibility in mind.

2.2 We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 Level AA as our principal technical accessibility benchmark.

2.3 We also recognise our responsibilities as a service provider under the Equality Act 2010, including the duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.

2.4 Accessibility is not just a technical exercise. If something on our website creates a barrier for somebody, we want to know so that we can understand the problem and, where reasonably possible, put it right.

3. What We Aim to Make Possible

3.1 We aim to make the website usable by people using different devices, browsers and assistive technologies.

3.2 In particular, we work towards making it possible to:

  • (a) navigate the website using a keyboard;
  • (b) use screen-reading and other assistive technology;
  • (c) zoom and enlarge content without losing important information;
  • (d) understand page structure through clear headings;
  • (e) identify links and controls clearly;
  • (f) understand images through appropriate alternative text where the image conveys information;
  • (g) complete website forms using clear labels and instructions;
  • (h) understand our content without unnecessarily complicated language; and
  • (i) access the core content on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

4. Current Accessibility Position

4.1 The Brightlink Law School website is a new website and we are continuing to test and improve it.

4.2 We have not yet completed a formal full-site WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility audit and therefore do not claim that every page or function is fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA.

4.3 We would rather be clear about that than make a claim that has not been properly tested.

4.4 As development continues, we will review representative pages, navigation, forms, images, colour contrast, keyboard access, responsive layouts and other accessibility features.

4.5 Where an accessibility issue is identified, we will consider the effect on users and what can reasonably be done to address it.

5. Third-Party Content and Services

5.1 The website may link to websites, documents or services provided by other organisations.

5.2 We cannot control the accessibility of websites and systems operated independently by third parties.

5.3 Where a third-party service is important to accessing a Brightlink service and creates a significant accessibility difficulty, please tell us. We will consider whether we can provide support or a reasonable alternative.

6. Documents and Alternative Formats

6.1 We aim to publish website information in accessible web-page format wherever reasonably practicable.

6.2 Where documents are made available for download, we will take accessibility into account when they are created or updated.

6.3 If you cannot access information because of the format in which it has been published, contact us.

6.4 Depending on what you need, we may be able to:

  • (a) provide information in another format;
  • (b) provide the information directly by email;
  • (c) explain the information by telephone or Zoom;
  • (d) help you complete a form; or
  • (e) make another reasonable adjustment.

7. Tell Us if Something Is Difficult to Use

7.1 Accessibility works best when people tell us about barriers we have not identified ourselves.

7.2 If you find part of the Brightlink Law School website difficult to access or use, please tell us:

  • (a) which page or function caused the problem;
  • (b) what you were trying to do;
  • (c) what went wrong; and
  • (d) what adjustment or alternative would help, if you know.

7.3 You do not need to know the technical reason for the problem.

8. Contact Us About Accessibility

8.1 You can contact Brightlink by:

8.2 If you need a reasonable adjustment when communicating with us, tell us what would help and we will work with you to identify an appropriate solution.

9. Equality Act Rights

9.1 Nothing in this statement limits any rights a disabled person has under the Equality Act 2010.

9.2 Independent information and advice about discrimination and equality rights is available from the Equality Advisory and Support Service.

10. Review of This Statement

10.1 We will review this statement as the website develops and after significant changes to the website.

10.2 We will also review it following accessibility testing and update it to reflect any known accessibility issues and work being carried out to address them.
