For Employers
Invest in your people and build a stronger legal team.
Supporting people to develop can strengthen legal capability and create clearer progression opportunities within your organisation.
Brightlink can help you explore structured legal education and professional pathways that fit around work and support the capability you need for the future.
Why It Matters
Give your people a clearer path to develop.
People need to understand not only the role they have today, but how their knowledge, responsibility and professional opportunities can develop over time. Structured legal education can form part of that journey.
Create visible progression
Help employees understand possible next steps and the development that may support them.
Build capability
Develop knowledge and skills that support current responsibilities and future roles.
Support professional growth
Connect workplace experience with structured legal education and professional development.
Plan for the future
Use clearer development pathways to support longer term workforce and succession planning.
Start with Your People
Where could your existing talent go next?
Who is ready to develop?
Consider people taking on more responsibility, broadening their legal knowledge or preparing for a future role.
Where are the capability gaps?
Identify the knowledge, skills or professional capability the organisation may need now and in the future.
What pathway could fit?
Explore the legal education, apprenticeship or professional route that may best connect the individual’s starting point with the organisation’s needs.
Progression Pathways
Different people need different next steps.
There is not one single development route. The right pathway depends on where each person is starting from.
Developing from an entry-level role
- Building core legal knowledge
- Early career development
- CPQ Foundation, where appropriate
- Level 3 apprenticeship, where eligible
Progressing with legal experience
- Greater responsibility
- More advanced legal knowledge
- CPQ Advanced or Professional, where appropriate
- Level 5 apprenticeship, where eligible
Developing graduate or advanced talent
- Graduate routes
- Advanced professional development
- CILEX Graduate Qualification, where appropriate
- Relevant professional progression
Development That Fits Around Work
Structured learning without stepping away from the job.
The exact learning experience depends on the programme, but Brightlink combines flexible online study with real structure and support.
- Online learning and recorded teaching
- Suggested study schedules
- Specialist tutor support and one-to-one guidance
- Workshops and group tutorials, where relevant
- Assessment preparation
- Learning connected with professional progression
Build Internal Capability
Create more opportunities to progress from within.
Some of the capability you need in the future may already exist in people within your organisation. Giving employees clearer development routes can help you build knowledge, responsibility and professional capability over time.
-
Identify potential
Consider who within your organisation may be ready to take on more.
-
Create development routes
Give people a clear, structured way to build the knowledge and skills they need.
-
Connect learning with future roles
Help learning relate directly to where someone could be heading next.
Looking Ahead
Make development part of succession planning.
Succession planning is stronger when organisations understand which roles may become harder to fill, which capabilities are critical, which people may be able to progress, and what development they may need before taking the next step.
Brightlink can help you understand the education and professional pathways that may support people as they prepare for greater responsibility.

Your questions, answered.
How can legal education support career progression?
Structured legal qualifications can build the knowledge and professional skills that support greater responsibility over time. Brightlink can help you understand which routes may be relevant to a given role.
Can existing employees undertake a legal apprenticeship?
It may be possible, subject to eligibility. The employee needs to be in a legal or legally aligned role that meets the relevant requirements, and Welsh Legal Services Apprenticeships are funded by the Welsh Government for eligible learners, with employers responsible for exam resits.
Can Brightlink help us understand which route fits an employee?
Yes. Tell us about the person and the role, and we’ll help you understand the options that may be relevant.
Can people study while continuing to work?
Yes. Brightlink’s learning is designed to work alongside employment, combining online study with structured support.
What support will the learner receive?
Depending on the programme, this can include online learning, specialist tutor support, workshops and assessment preparation.
How does Brightlink work with employers?
Brightlink helps employers understand relevant education and development pathways, and supports the learner once they start studying. Talk to us to find out more.
